Civil Servants Demonstrate Strong Performance Amid Global Energy Crisis: PM Anwar

Kuala lumpur: Amid ongoing pressure from the global energy crisis, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described the performance of the country's civil service as commendable, stating that it has demonstrated a strong capability in handling a range of challenges effectively.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted that the culture and traditions within the civil service, supported by discipline and a strong sense of unity and cohesion, are among the key factors behind its strong performance and notable achievements. He remarked on the resilience of the civil service, emphasizing that firm leadership and unity have enabled the country to overcome many challenges both before and during the crisis.

Anwar made these comments at the Transport Ministry's monthly staff gathering, which was attended by Transport Minister Anthony Loke and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar. As the Minister of Finance, Anwar noted that Malaysia's achievements have placed it in a stronger position compared to its regional peers, despite the constant criticism faced by politicians and civil servants.

He urged the public to recognize the achievements of the civil service, rather than focusing solely on existing challenges, and expressed gratitude for the strong performance of civil servants in comparison to other countries. Anwar also encouraged civil servants to be more proactive in their communication with the public, focusing on sharing information and perspectives.

Anwar emphasized the importance of civil servants stepping up to explain matters, stating that it is not about defending the government, but about asserting their rights and providing feedback on issues of concern.
