Communications Ministry Aims to Station Prompt Engineers at Every NADI Centre

Kuala lumpur: The Communications Ministry aims to produce at least one prompt engineer at every National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) nationwide as part of efforts to strengthen artificial intelligence (AI) literacy and skills among young Malaysians. Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced that the initiative seeks to equip youths with the expertise to develop applications addressing local community needs, rather than merely exposing them to AI tools.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi expressed a clear aspiration to establish a prompt engineer at every NADI centre across the country, including locations such as Teluk Ramunia in Johor and Pulau Banggi in Sabah. The goal is to foster young individuals who can utilize AI platforms like Gemini and Copilot to develop technologies that solve real-world problems.

Fahmi highlighted that this initiative could nurture a new generation of technologically skilled local talent, creating employment opportunities outside major urban centres. He also urged the ministry to expand community outreach programmes in collaboration with other ministries and agencies to ensure broader access to government services.

The initiative is set to commence from June 12 to 14, coinciding with activities related to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Agencies such as the Department of Broadcasting Malaysia (RTM) and the Department of Information Malaysia (JAPEN) are expected to actively participate. RTM and JAPEN have been encouraged to intensify on-ground programmes, including weekend broadcasts and live events in various locations.

Fahmi mentioned that ministry initiatives like outdoor cinema screenings, community feasts, and the Safe Internet Campaign should be expanded with support from other government agencies. He emphasized an integrated approach that would provide communities access to a broader range of government services, activities, and programmes through a single platform.

To ensure the swift implementation of these plans, Fahmi directed that planning and coordination be finalized immediately, aiming for the initiative to begin this weekend.
