Sungai tiram: Police arrested a local man yesterday for allegedly vandalising and cutting cables by the roadside on Jalan Sungai Tiram here.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Seri Alam acting police chief Supt G. Vikra Mathiththan @ Victor A/L Ganeson stated that a 33-second viral video was posted on the Community Roda Johor - CRJ Facebook page showing someone cutting cables by the roadside. He mentioned that the police received a report of the incident and that investigations revealed it occurred on September 20 at 3 am.

'We apprehended a 34-year-old suspect on the same day,' he said in a statement today. The statement further noted that the alleged cable thief has four previous criminal and drug-related offences and tested positive for methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Section 431A of the Penal Code and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
