Kuala lumpur: The Coroner's Court is tentatively planning a locus in quo visit to the site related to the case of Zara Qairina Mahathir's death at the hostel of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Tun Datu Mustapha, Papar, next week.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, lawyer Shahlan Jufri, representing Zara Qairina's mother, Noraidah Lamat, stated that the specific date for the visit to the school hostel has not yet been confirmed. He mentioned, "We expect to visit the school (SMKA) Tun Datu Mustapha again next week, but the date will be determined later," following the inquest proceedings, which were conducted behind closed doors.
Shahlan noted that all child witnesses have completed their testimonies. The upcoming proceedings this Friday will involve a school teacher, with additional witnesses scheduled to participate in the inquest next week.
During today's proceedings, the 23rd child witness was recalled to provide testimony regarding the receipt of several items and written papers associated with Zara Qairina. Exhibits presented included a keychain with an avocado figurine and several papers admitted as evidence.
The witness reported that the items were given by Zara Qairina through friends, also Form One students, but could not recall the exact date of receipt, only indicating that the keychain was received some time ago.
Zara Qairina, aged 13, passed away at Hospital Queen Elizabeth on July 17 last year, one day after being found unconscious in a drain near the SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha hostel in Papar at around 4 am.
On August 13, the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) ordered an inquest after reviewing the police investigation report. Earlier, on August 8, the AGC instructed the exhumation of Zara Qairina's grave for a post-mortem examination.
