Perlis: Promoting cultural understanding among races fosters tolerance and mutual respect, thereby strengthening national unity, said the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail. He highlighted Malaysia's status as a multi-racial country thriving in peace and harmony.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin emphasized that the practice of consensus and mutual respect among races forms the foundation of Malaysia's unity, making the nation unique and distinguished on the global stage. He made these remarks at the opening of the 2025 Kampung Pauh Setia Chinese New Year Carnival, held at the Kampung Pauh Community Hall last night.
The event saw the attendance of the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil and Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli. The carnival was organised by the Alumni of Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SRJKC) Sin Min in collaboration with various local non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra expressed gratitude to the Chinese community in Kampung Pauh Setia, the majority of whom speak the Teochew dialect, for their dedication to organising events that promote cultural interaction and harmony. He pointed out that Kampung Pauh Setia is the only Kampung Baru in Perlis and expressed hope that it would inspire other communities to organise programmes fostering unity and togetherness, regardless of race.
He also expressed hope that such events would act as catalysts to educate all levels of society about the diverse cultures in Malaysia, particularly in Perlis, aligning with the Visit Perlis Year (TMP) 2024-2025 initiative. Furthermore, the Raja Muda of Perlis reminded the people of Perlis traveling home for Chinese New Year to exercise caution on the roads to ensure a safe journey.
