DBKL Launches Upgraded E-License System for Faster Renewals

Kuala lumpur: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has upgraded its e-License system to simplify its business licence renewal process, with transactions now taking only about three minutes online.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud announced that under the improved system, licence holders no longer need to visit DBKL offices as payments can be made through an online payment platform before applicants print their licences themselves.

The mayor highlighted the introduction of barcodes for on-site monitoring purposes. During inspections at premises, the barcodes will be used for verification. This announcement was made at a press conference on the enhancement of the e-License system, attended by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh.

Fadlun emphasized that the system allows for real-time monitoring of licence data, including the number of applications currently being processed and the active licences. Currently, there are about 42,000 applications being processed and 92,263 active licences, with the number increasing daily.

The renewal process has been simplified further, allowing users to easily access the list of active licences and renew them directly through the system with just a few clicks.

Additionally, licence holders with outstanding payments must settle these arrears to qualify for a 10 per cent discount and a three-year licence renewal. Traders unfamiliar with information technology related to licence applications and renewals can still visit DBKL offices for assistance and remain eligible for the offered discounts.
