Alor setar: The delayed distribution of Baja 3 fertiliser to padi farmers in the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) area is set to be resolved immediately, as the delivery of the remaining stock is scheduled to commence tomorrow, according to Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu. The minister announced that the completion of the delivery is expected within 10 days.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Sabu disclosed that he had submitted a letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on August 27, advocating for the termination of Taveekun Manufacturing Sdn Bhd's services due to the delay. In the same communiqu©, he proposed that Malaysian NPK Fertilizer Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the National Farmers' Organisation (NAFAS), should be tasked with fulfilling the remaining supply of Fertiliser 3 to the affected padi farmers.

Prime Minister Anwar, who also serves as the Finance Minister, agreed to the proposal, thereby authorizing the delivery of the remaining Fertiliser 3 supply to begin tomorrow. Mohamad Sabu further stated that MADA had been instructed to closely monitor the delivery process to ensure the timely arrival of the supply to the farmers.

Addressing the importance of the timely delivery, Mohamad Sabu emphasized that there should be no room for repeated delays when it involves the basic necessities of padi production and the farmers' source of income. He firmly stated that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security would not tolerate any failure in fulfilling responsibilities that could impact padi farmers and disrupt the country's food production sector.

Previously, media reports highlighted that Pengkalan Kundor assemblyman Mardhiyyah Johari had urged the government to consider compensating padi farmers who suffered losses due to the delays in the distribution of Padi Compound Fertiliser 3 in the MADA area.
