DHCG, Altruist Biologics To Accelerate Biologic Therapy Development

Kuala lumpur: Dark Horse Consulting Group (DHCG) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Altruist Biologics to establish a strategic collaboration aimed at accelerating the development and global commercialisation of biologic therapies.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the partnership combines DHCG's consulting expertise across regulatory, chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC), nonclinical, clinical, quality and compliance, supply chain, commercial launch and business analytics functions with Altruist Biologics' end-to-end current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) manufacturing capabilities in China.

Together, the organisations aim to provide biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies with a streamlined pathway to clinical and commercial-scale biologics manufacturing, particularly for programmes seeking to leverage China's biomanufacturing infrastructure.

DHCG Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Anthony Davies, stated that the collaboration expands the company's partner network in China and provides an additional pathway for clients developing monoclonal antibodies, bispecific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and other biologic therapies. 'Together, we will help developers compress timelines, reduce risk, and ultimately bring life-saving therapies to patients faster,' he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Altruist Biologics Chairman and CEO, Kaisong Zhou, mentioned that the partnership combines Altruist's manufacturing infrastructure and quality systems with DHCG's strategic and operational consulting expertise to support developers throughout the biologics development process.

Biologics manufacturing in China has emerged as a strategic priority for global sponsors due to the country's evolving regulatory environment, cost advantages and production capabilities. The collaboration is designed to help sponsors navigate China's regulatory and manufacturing requirements while supporting access to both Chinese and international markets.

Altruist Biologics operates cGMP manufacturing facilities in Suzhou and Hangzhou with a combined production capacity of 232,000 litres, including four 20,000-litre bioreactors at its Hangzhou site. DHCG provides consulting services covering regulatory and CMC strategies for biologics development and commercialisation.

The collaboration aims to simplify biologics development by aligning manufacturing execution with global regulatory requirements and providing sponsors with a more efficient path from development to cGMP manufacturing.
