Kuala Lumpur: The Digital Ministry has announced its continued support for digitalisation initiatives aimed at Hindu temples across the nation. Minister Gobind Singh Deo emphasized the government's dedication to ensuring that digital technology permeates all levels of society, including religious and cultural domains, to prevent any community from being excluded from the digital age.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the minister spoke at the Penang Hindu Endowments Board's launch of a new digitalisation system and kiosk at the Sree Maha Mariamman Temple. This new system is designed to modernize temple management, allowing devotees and visitors to make donations, check temple ceremony schedules, and register for religious events both from home and via kiosks at the temple. During the event, Gobind Singh Deo approved a RM20,000 allocation to the temple, in the presence of board chairman RSN Rayer.
He further explained that the digitalisation system would enhance transparency and management efficiency in temples, transforming them into well-managed community centers. The minister stressed that increasing devotees' trust is crucial, and digitalisation plays a significant role in achieving this. He highlighted that embracing technology does not mean abandoning traditions and values but rather enriching and preserving cultural heritage with modern tools.
Gobind Singh Deo concluded by expressing his hopes that all Hindu temples in Malaysia would adopt digitalisation systems in alignment with the Malaysia MADANI concept, which seeks to integrate technological advancement with the conservation of cultural heritage.
