Dissolution of Sabah State Assembly Sets Stage for 17th State Election

Kota kinabalu: The official dissolution of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today marks the beginning of the process for the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN17), offering citizens the chance to select a new government. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin expressed confidence that the people of Sabah would wisely choose parties and candidates capable of driving change for the benefit of the state and its residents. He emphasized that UMNO and BN are prepared to deliver improvements based on proven experience and capability. Datuk Bung Moktar Radin stated that the people of Sabah deserve better living conditions, opportunities, progress, and political stability. He highlighted UMNO-BN's experience as a foundation to restore Sabah on a path of progress and stability. Earlier today, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced the dissolution of the 16th Sabah State Legislative Assembly at Menara Kinabalu, following the consent of Yang Dipertua Negeri Sabah Tun Musa Aman. The dissolution paves the way for PRN17, with Sabah currently governed by an interim administration until a new government and chief minister are appointed post-election. Sabah DAP Chairman Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe expressed gratitude to voters in the Luyang constituency for allowing him to serve as their representative, calling it a significant honor in his life. Sabah PAS Commissioner Datuk Dr Aliakbar Gulasan commented on the democratic process on his Facebook page, advocating for prioritizing noble morals and avoiding enmity and slander. Sabah Perikatan Nasional Chairman Dr Ronald Kiandee stated the party's belief in the maturity of Sabah's citizens, expressing confidence that they are ready to elect a government that will ensure a better future. He noted that the dissolution offers the people an opportunity to shape the state's direction.
