Kuala lumpur: The Defence Ministry has revealed that 82.5 percent of trainees have shown satisfaction with the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 so far. This finding emerged from an internal assessment involving 560 trainees from Series 1 and Series 2 this year, as stated by Deputy Minister Adly Zahari during a question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Adly Zahari noted that the ministry has acknowledged constructive suggestions from the trainees, which include requests for the military module to be reinforced and conducted repeatedly, rather than just once. He was addressing a query from William Leong Jee Keen (PH-Selayang) regarding the government's post-evaluation study on the PLKN modules and the integration of unity, values, and mutual understanding across various communities in the nationhood module, which constitutes 30 percent of PLKN components.
Adly further mentioned that an external evaluation by the Institute for Youth Research Malaysia is ongoing to assess key aspects such as patriotism and unity, with the comprehensive report expected in the second quarter of next year. He emphasized that the nationhood module is crafted to foster patriotism, identity, and tolerance among different communities, thereby forming the core of PLKN 3.0.
In response to a supplementary question from Kalam Salan (PN-Sabak Bernam) on the programme's continuity, Adly highlighted that trainees will be monitored until they enter the workforce to ensure the long-term impact on character development and the dissemination of national values in society. He also mentioned that involvement in uniformed bodies, such as the Territorial Army, is part of the ongoing efforts to instill patriotism among trainees.
