Doctor Defrauded of RM880,000 in Facebook Investment Scam

Pahang: A doctor has reportedly lost over RM880,000 after falling prey to a fraudulent share investment scheme that was promoted on Facebook.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman revealed that the 44-year-old victim initially engaged with the suspect through WhatsApp. He was subsequently added to a group named 'Aura Wealth Navigation', where he was introduced to an investment plan known as 'TNB Aura'. This scheme promised substantial returns ranging from 18 to 22 percent and potential profits of up to 500 percent if investment objectives for 24 different types of shares were met.

Enticed by these promises, the victim proceeded to make 21 money transfers into five separate bank accounts associated with various companies. These transactions occurred between November 8, 2025, and January 7 of the current year, financed through personal loans and funds from Amanah Saham Bumiputera and Tabung Haji. Despite an initial profit of RM1,000, the victim received no further returns.

Realizing the scam, the doctor filed a police report at the Kuantan district police headquarters. The case is now under investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which addresses cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property.
