E-Sports Centre Expected To Be Operational Next Year

Puchong: An e-sports centre developed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) is scheduled to commence operation next year. Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Adam Adli Abdul Halim stated that details on the operation of the e-sports centre are expected to be announced in September. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the deputy minister explained that the project is currently in the tender issuance phase and is anticipated to be operational by 2026. The e-sports centre is designed to serve multiple purposes beyond e-sports, functioning as a multipurpose hall to ensure optimal use of the resources available. Adam Adli made these remarks to reporters after the closing ceremony of the ASEAN Youth E-Sports Championship (AEYSC) 2025 near Puchong. The event was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Hannah Yeoh, KBS secretary-general Dr. K. Nagulendran, and Malaysian Electronic Sports Federation (MESF) representative Muhammad Naim Al Amin Saharudin. In a related development, Minister Hannah Yeoh had announc ed in December that instead of constructing a new stadium, one of the facilities at KL Sports City, Bukit Jalil, will be converted into an e-sports centre. Adam also expressed satisfaction with the AEYSC 2025, organized by MESF, which successfully gathered players and stakeholders from Southeast Asia. Although the tournament only featured eFootball Mobile, Adam Adli hoped it would pave the way for larger competitions organized by other ASEAN countries. The Indonesian team triumphed at the AEYSC 2025, winning all three gold medals in the men's singles, women's singles, and mixed doubles categories. Malaysia secured two silvers, while Thailand earned one silver and two bronze medals, and Myanmar took home one bronze.
