Kuala Terengganu: The inaugural East Coast Energy (ECE) 2025, an energy transition summit specifically for Malaysia's east coast region, aims to position Terengganu as a hub for energy transition.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Terengganu deputy state secretary (development) and director of state economic planning unit (UPEN) Datuk Tun Ahmad Faisal Tun Abdul Razak highlighted that ECE 2025 will be a crucial mechanism to align public policies, industry innovation, and regional collaboration to support the national energy transformation agenda. He emphasized the strategic opportunity ECE 2025 presents in attracting clean energy investments, raising public awareness of net-zero ambitions, and fostering partnerships across the East Coast economic corridor.
Scheduled for June 23-24, 2025, at the Taman Tamadun Islam Convention Centre in Kuala Terengganu, the event will be organized by Informa Markets, known for Oil and Gas Asia (OGA). It is supported by Terengganu Inc as a strategic partner, Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation Bhd (EPIC) as a corporate partner, and Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) as a knowledge partner.
Terengganu Inc president and group chief executive officer Datuk Burhanuddin Helmi Mohamed stated that ECE 2025 was conceived to establish a platform for meaningful dialogue between the government, industry stakeholders, and the community. He underscored the importance of fostering collaboration and active participation of local communities in energy-related developments, and emphasized the socio-economic benefits for small and medium enterprises, entrepreneurs, and youths.
Burhanuddin Helmi noted that ECE 2025 is expected to become the region's premier platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and investment opportunities, with over 800 delegates anticipated. This event marks a milestone in advancing the East Coast's role within Malaysia's national energy strategy.
EPIC CEO Dr Muhtar Suhaili expressed the company's honor in spearheading the event, celebrating over four decades of driving industrial growth and regional development. He stated that ECE 2025 will build on their foundation by integrating innovation, sustainability, and collaboration to unlock new opportunities.
Petronas senior vice president, projects, technology and health, safety, security and environment (PT and HSSE) Mohd Yusri Mohamed Yusof conveyed the group's honor in participating in ECE 2025. He emphasized the strategic importance of the East Coast in supporting Malaysia's energy transition and reiterated Petronas's commitment to fostering innovation ecosystems and impactful collaborations for a sustainable future.
