Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Education has announced its priorities for the coming years, emphasizing the development of a new education plan (2026-2035), the introduction of the 2027 School Curriculum, and a comprehensive School Reform agenda. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek highlighted these initiatives as the focus for the current year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Education is also working towards extending compulsory education to the secondary level. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has called for collaboration from all State Executive Councillors (Excos) and state leaders to achieve this goal, which she describes as a noble aspiration for the future generation. She emphasized that education is a fundamental right for every Malaysian child and should be pursued collectively.
Minister Fadhlina mentioned that the recent State Education Exco Committee Meeting served as an effective platform to showcase the unity and commitment of all parties involved in the development of education. The meeting provided an opportunity to share updates on national education, discuss state-level issues, and explore potential solutions. Feedback and suggestions gathered during the meeting are being considered for improving the education sector.
She also expressed hope for the continued strengthening of the relationship between the Ministry of Education and state governments to enhance the quality of national education. During the meeting, Fadhlina shared positive results from the 2024 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, attributing success to intervention programs at the state level. The SPM dropout rates in 2024 showed a marked improvement, indicating effective efforts in addressing this issue.
