Educational Institutions Encouraged to Participate in Jalur Gemilang Initiative

Kuala Lumpur: Educational institutions not under the purview of the Ministry of Education (MOE) are encouraged to participate in the initiative to wear the Jalur Gemilang badge on student uniforms. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek emphasized the importance of this initiative in reaching all students across the country and gaining support from various sectors.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadhlina announced that as of today, 5.3 million students in schools under the Ministry of Education have begun wearing the Jalur Gemilang badge on their school uniforms. The initiative was officially launched nationwide and aims to extend beyond MOE-governed schools, inviting other educational institutions to join in promoting patriotism.

The ministry had previously outlined the phased implementation plan for the Jalur Gemilang badge on uniforms, effective immediately. This initiative involves government schools, government-aided schools, matriculation colleges, and the Malaysian Teacher Education Institute, all striving to instill a sense of patriotism among students and educators.

Fadhlina clarified that students who choose not to wear the badge will not be penalized, as the initiative is not meant to be punitive. Instead, it seeks to foster a love for the country among students, reflecting the ministry's dedication to instilling values of patriotism, unity, and national identity from an early age.

Additionally, Fadhlina noted that the Jalur Gemilang badges are provided free of charge to all students, aiming to enhance the spirit of patriotism with support from teachers guiding students on the badge's proper use and significance.

She expressed pride in the initiative, congratulating teachers, students, and school administrators for their role in facilitating a smooth launch. Fadhlina believes that with determination and enthusiasm, the initiative will help cultivate a MADANI generation that respects and honors the national flag as a crucial symbol of identity and pride.
