Kuala Lumpur: Efforts to turn Papar into a new tourism hub for the state of Sabah are progressing well as many new developments are being implemented to boost the tourism sector in the district.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Papar MP Armizan Mohd Ali stated that among the projects being implemented in the district was the construction of two five-star hotels each in Melinsung and Kinarut. "The construction of the hotel is sure to further boost the tourism sector in Papar, as well as stimulate economic growth in this district," he noted. Armizan emphasized the importance of identifying attractions and products that can draw tourists to stay at the hotels.

The Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living highlighted that significant efforts are required to establish Papar as a tourism hub, including the development of the hospitality industry and addressing ongoing issues. "We will ensure that protracted problems such as water, electricity supply, and road problems can be resolved to ensure that tourists are comfortable coming to Papar," he explained.

Commenting on a recent event, Armizan mentioned that the Majestic Ballroom at 10 Star Cinemas could be advantageous for the residents of Papar. "This ballroom can be used for various events such as seminars, weddings, and so on. We don't need to go to Kota Kinabalu anymore to organise programmes because we already have a good and comfortable place in Papar," he added.
