LISC 2025 Concludes with Record-Breaking Achievements in Fishing and Kayaking

Labuan: The Labuan International Sea Challenge (LISC) 2025 concluded on a triumphant note, marked by record-breaking achievements in deep sea fishing and kayaking.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event saw a spectacular catch of a rare Black Marlin weighing 230 kilograms by Wyner Vilus Voi John@Rayner from Sabah, setting a new record for the Labuan International Deep Sea Fishing tournament.

A total of 212 participants from various regions, including Hong Kong and Singapore, embarked from Labuan on April 22. They sailed towards the rich waters off Layangan Island and the Spratlys Islands, where the prized marlin was landed. In the kayaking events, siblings Nadzmar Sukarno and Shahdan Sukarno secured the double kayak category title for the third consecutive year, further solidifying their standing in the competition.

Labuan Corporation chief executive officer Mohd Sukuran Taib expressed pride over the event's success, emphasizing its role as an economic-impact sporting event for Labuan. He noted that hotels experienced full occupancy, eateries enjoyed a steady stream of customers, and small businesses thrived throughout the event. He assured that efforts would continue to raise the standards of LISC, maintaining its status as a key event on the international sea sports calendar and a significant contributor to Labuan's tourism and economy.
