Express Boat Passenger Missing After Falling Overboard In Tanjung Manis

Tanjung Manis: An express boat passenger went missing after falling overboard at the estuary of Sungai Paloh, Tanjung Manis, approximately 104 kilometres from here this afternoon. The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) confirmed that the incident occurred earlier today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the victim has been identified as Awang Indera Awang Mahmud, age 45. The department reported that he fell from the express boat at approximately 1.20 pm. A call reporting the incident was received by the department at 5.44 pm, prompting an immediate response.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department stated that an operational deployment team from the Tanjung Manis Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the location, which is 25 kilometres away from the station. The department released a statement late in the evening detailing the immediate actions taken in response to the incident.

Due to poor visibility at night, the department has decided to commence the search and rescue (SAR) operation for the missing passenger tomorrow. The department emphasized the importance of visibility and safety during such operations, which necessitated the postponement of the search efforts until the following day.
