Kuala Lumpur:Budget 2027, presented last Friday, has been well received by the public, reflecting successful government engagement efforts at various levels, according to MADANI Government spokesperson Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Communications Minister Fahmi emphasized that the approach taken by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim allowed the government to consider the needs of different societal groups, distinguishing Budget 2027 from previous ones. The Prime Minister instructed ministers and the Finance Ministry team to actively engage with stakeholders, gather feedback, and incorporate diverse inputs. Although not perfect, the budget has received positive feedback, especially for its social measures.
Fahmi highlighted the government's ongoing commitment to addressing public concerns and ensuring the benefits of sound management are realized. For example, over 38,000 taxi and school bus drivers will begin receiving a RM1,000 contribution from the Transport Ministry, funded by a special vehicle registration number sale. This initiative reflects the administration's transparency and effective management.
The Communications Ministry welcomed budget announcements, including the entertainment duty exemption on local film tickets in the Federal Territories. Fahmi stressed the need for continued engagement with the Malaysian Association of Film Exhibitors (MAFE) to ensure benefits extend to moviegoers, particularly in the Federal Territories, Putrajaya, and Labuan.
On October 9, Prime Minister Anwar presented Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat, allocating RM510 billion to enhance people's dignity and well-being. The budget encompasses eight key pillars, emphasizing commitments to improve lives and strengthen national resilience.
Fahmi also urged the Communications Ministry to collaborate with the National Digital Department to share the Budget 2027 speech text with AI service providers. This initiative aims to ensure accurate information is available on platforms like Gemini, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Copilot, providing reliable answers to public inquiries.
