Petaling jaya: The incident of a female student who died after being stabbed at a secondary school here today has caused concern among parents regarding the safety levels of their children at school. Johari Hashim, 58, who has two twin sons studying in Form Two at the school involved, described the incident as extremely shocking.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johari, a self-employed man, expressed disbelief over the crime involving weapons among students, which he never imagined could occur. "I am very shocked by this incident. In my time, the worst we did was fight and punch each other; we never thought of stabbing or using weapons," he said when met by Bernama here today. Residing in Damansara Perdana, Johari hopes that the school authorities will take more serious follow-up action to ensure better student safety in the future.
Another parent of a student at the school, who declined to be named, also emphasized the need for the school to take action to prevent such incidents from recurring. "I found out about the incident when I arrived at the school to send food to my child and saw students being asked to leave the school. My daughter is also worried after this incident," he said.
Meanwhile, a Form One student at the school recounted experiencing a tense situation when the suspect in the case entered her classroom immediately after the incident, carrying a blood-stained sharp weapon. According to the student, who also wished to remain anonymous, the suspect, who was a student from the transition class, briefly entered her class without threatening anyone before leaving.
"I felt nervous and scared when the male student entered our class holding that weapon, but he didn't do anything and just went straight to another place," she said.
In the 9.30am incident today at a secondary school in Petaling Jaya, a 16-year-old female student died after she was suspected of being stabbed by a 14-year-old male student. The victim was found dead with multiple stab wounds on her body in the female washroom area of the school, and the police also found two sharp weapons believed to have been used in the incident.
