Pantai merdeka: The 2025 Fisheries Day Programme (PHP 2025), held over three days starting October 31 at Pantai Merdeka, recorded a total of 17,147 visitors and generated RM65,942.10 in sales. Fisheries director-general Datuk Adnan Hussain highlighted the event's success in reflecting growing public interest in the fisheries sector.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Adnan Hussain noted that the encouraging public response demonstrated a heightened awareness of the fisheries sector as a valuable source of livelihood and economic opportunity. He emphasized the importance of preserving this natural asset. The programme served as both an engaging event and a platform for fostering community ties with the department's efforts to promote resource sustainability and introduce innovations in the industry.
PHP 2025 continued from the inaugural event held in 2024 in Putrajaya, aiming to further public understanding of the significance of fishery resources and their role in national food security. The event featured a variety of activities over the three days, including interactive exhibitions, sales booths, a Fun Run and Fun Walk, traditional games, and community activities. These initiatives focused on conveying messages of sustainability and the need for responsibility towards the nation's fishery resources.
