Kuantan: A farmer was injured in the abdomen after being stabbed by an acquaintance in Kampung Sri Damai, Jalan Gambang, near here. Kuantan police chief ACP Ashari Abu Samah stated that the incident occurred at approximately 7 pm on Friday, when the 38-year-old victim encountered the 25-year-old suspect in front of his residence.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the situation escalated when the suspect requested the victim to accompany him, under the pretense that a friend wished to meet. Upon the victim's refusal, the suspect drew a five-inch knife from his pants and inflicted a stab wound to the victim's abdomen.

The victim sustained a tear in the middle of his abdomen and subsequently sought medical treatment at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) in the area. Following the incident, the suspect, who is without employment, was taken into custody. The attack is believed to be motivated by the suspect's resentment towards the victim for allegedly reporting his banned substance use to authorities.

Ashari further informed that the suspect has been remanded for four days until Tuesday to assist in the investigation being conducted under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
