Kuala lumpur: A temporary power disruption occurred at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 following a flashover incident involving cable termination, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) reported.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAHB assured that airport operations remained unaffected as essential systems continued to operate without interruption. Backup generators were activated immediately, ensuring critical systems such as baggage handling, check-in counters, and flight information displays continued to function smoothly.
MAHB stated that their technical teams responded promptly and efficiently by rerouting power from an alternate substation, successfully restoring full power supply within 28 minutes. They emphasized that all essential services remained operational throughout the incident.
A detailed report of the incident is being prepared for submission to Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook. MAHB is conducting a thorough assessment to prevent future occurrences and to ensure the resilience of their infrastructure.
The power blackout struck KLIA2 at 2.15 pm, prompting the Transport Minister to describe the incident as completely unacceptable due to its potential impact on the country's image. The incident coincided with Loke's visit to KLIA2 for the launch of the "Tap, Travel and Discover" initiative by gateway@klia2.
