KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood evacuees in Kelantan and Johor remained steady this morning, while Perak experienced a significant rise in the number of displaced individuals, authorities reported.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan continues to have only one temporary evacuation center (PPS) operational in Rantau Panjang as of 8:30 a.m., accommodating 31 individuals from nine families at Sekolah Kebangsaan Gual Tok Deh. The Department of Irrigation and Drainage's Public Infobanjir portal has indicated that Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang remains above the danger level, currently measuring at 9.80 meters, exceeding the 9.0 meters threshold.
In Johor, State Disaster Management Committee chairman Tan Sri Dr. Azmi Rohani stated that 69 flood victims from 17 families continue to be housed at two PPS in the Kota Tinggi district. Among them, 42 victims from 12 families are at Sekolah Kebangsaan Gembut, and 27 victims from five families are at Balai Raya Kampung Perpat.
Meanwhile, in Perak, the JPBN Secretariat has reported a notable increase in evacuees, with numbers rising to 399 victims from 86 families this morning. This marks a sharp increase from the 52 victims from 11 families recorded the previous night. All evacuees in Perak are currently sheltered at Dewan Kampung Asli Chinggung and Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Sungai Sekiah in Muallim, while the water level at Sungai Slim has reached a critical danger level of 25.41 meters.
