Flood Evacuee Numbers Surge in Sarawak, Decline in Sabah

Sarawak: The number of flood evacuees at relief centres increased in Sarawak while experiencing a decrease in Sabah as of 4 pm today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sarawak saw a rise in evacuees, with 1,172 individuals from 349 families currently at 15 relief centres. This marks an increase from 319 people from 93 families recorded in the morning. In contrast, Sabah reported a decrease in evacuee numbers, with 503 individuals from 173 families this evening, down from 633 people from 215 families earlier in the afternoon.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe warning of continuous rain for several areas in Sarawak, including Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman (Sri Aman), and Betong (Pusa and Betong). Additionally, an alert warning for continuous rain has been issued for other areas such as Kuching (Lundu), Sri Aman (Lubok Antu), Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, and Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi).
