Kuala lumpur: The Education Ministry has activated the National Education Advisory Council to study the need to revive the Pentaksiran Tingkatan Tiga (PT3) and the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examinations. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek stated that the council's study findings would be presented to the Cabinet before any further decisions are made.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the examinations are a key concern among parents. Fadhlina mentioned that survey reports and recommendations would also be submitted to the Cabinet for deliberation. The study on the potential revival of these examinations is expected to be carried out soon.
The UPSR, which assessed primary school students after their first six years, was abolished in 2021. This was followed by the abolition of the PT3 for Form Three students in 2022, with both examinations being replaced by school-based assessments.
