Perak: The flood situation in Perak, Kedah, and Penang remains largely unchanged, with the number of evacuees at temporary relief centres rising slightly to 5,850 this morning from 5,788 last night. Four districts in Perak continue to grapple with the flood's impacts, where 2,867 victims from 967 families are taking refuge at 28 temporary relief centres as of 8 am.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the district of Larut, Matang and Selama has the highest number of evacuees, with 1,872 people from 640 families seeking shelter at 19 relief centres that have been operational since Thursday. In Manjung, 607 victims from 202 families are housed at five relief centres, while Kerian has 278 victims from 94 families at three centres. Perak Tengah is accommodating 110 victims from 31 families at a relief centre.
In Kedah, the flood situation is deteriorating as the number of victims continues to rise. Currently, 1,934 people from 602 families have been relocated to 19 relief centres as of 9 am, up from 1,708 people from 525 families last night. Kubang Pasu is the latest district to be affected by the floods, joining six others.
The Kedah JPBN reported that Kulim has the highest number of evacuees, with 1,294 people from 372 families sheltering at nine relief centres. Baling follows with 291 people from 119 families at four centres, and Pendang has 111 people from 32 families at one relief centre. Pokok Sena, Sik, Padang Terap, and Kubang Pasu also have evacuees at various relief centres.
Meanwhile, the Public Infobanjir website states that five rivers in Kedah have exceeded the danger level, posing a significant concern for the region's flood management efforts.
In Penang, there has been a slight decrease in flood victims this morning, with 1,049 people from 295 families staying at seven relief centres across three districts, down from 1,187 people from 328 families last night. Seberang Perai Utara remains the worst-affected district, with 781 people from 217 families at four relief centres. Seberang Perai Tengah has 234 people from 68 families at two centres, and 34 people from 10 families continue to be accommodated at a relief centre in the Barat Daya district.
