Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Transport (MOT) has announced the organization of the FLYSiswa Carnival 2026 at Dewan Besar, Pusat Kebudayaan dan Kesenian, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) on January 13. The event will run from 9 am to 4 pm and aims to serve as a platform to provide information and publicity regarding the FLYSiswa initiative, which offers flight ticket subsidies to students.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the carnival is specifically targeted at students from public institutions of higher learning, polytechnics, and community colleges under the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), as well as matriculation students and those from teacher training institutes (IPG) under the Ministry of Education (MOE). The FLYSiswa initiative was introduced to alleviate the financial burden of students traveling home, particularly on domestic routes within Malaysia, including the regions of Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan.
The initiative provides eligible students with a digital voucher valued at RM400 in shell credit, which can be used to purchase economy-class flight tickets-either one-way or return-with participating airlines such as Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Batik Air, Firefly, and MASwings. The MOT has outlined that FLYSiswa 2026 will be implemented in three phases. Phase one will accommodate existing and new students registered up to September 30, 2025, starting from January 1, 2026.
The second phase is set to include new students registering between October 1 and December 31, 2025, with implementation commencing on March 1, 2026. The third phase will begin on July 1, 2026, for students newly registered between January 1 and March 31, 2026. During the FLYSiswa Carnival 2026, a variety of activities such as information counters and briefing sessions will be conducted to provide students with accurate information directly from the relevant parties, including details on the initiative's implementation phases throughout the year.
Since its inception in 2023, FLYSiswa has benefited 119,806 students, with the number of claims increasing annually, highlighting the initiative's significance in supporting student welfare. The MOT encourages all parties, especially students, to attend the carnival to seize the opportunities offered and gain comprehensive insight into the FLYSiswa initiative's overall implementation.
