Kuala lumpur: Former Sabak Bernam Member of Parliament Datuk Mat Yasir Ikhsan passed away at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) at 3am today. He was 78 years old.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mat Yasir's son, Azwan Mat Yasir, 45, confirmed the news in a Facebook post. Azwan announced that funeral prayers would be conducted at Surau Raudhah Al-Muttaqin in Section 4, with the burial scheduled at the Section 21 Muslim Cemetery following Asar prayers.

Azwan urged everyone to pray for his late father, hoping for a blessed journey to the barzakh. Mat Yasir was a Barisan Nasional (BN) elected representative, serving the Sungai Air Tawar state constituency from 1999 to 2004 and as Sabak Bernam MP from 2004 to 2008.
