Kuala lumpur: Police are conducting further investigations into sexual crimes involving children after uncovering a group known as 'Geng Budak Sekolah'. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the investigation into the group, handled by the D11 (Sexual, Women and Children Investigation Division) at Bukit Aman, needs to be conducted carefully as it involves children.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saifuddin Nasution emphasized the importance of handling cases involving children with care, noting that sharing pictures or mentioning names is prohibited. He highlighted the complexity of managing such cases due to the children's age, level of thinking, and the factors driving them to engage in these activities. The minister pointed out the need to understand why children might choose to leave school, among other considerations.
When questioned about the potential existence of masterminds behind these crimes, Saifuddin stated that this aspect remains unconfirmed. He explained that the group's modus operandi involved using WhatsApp to circulate explicit material among its more than 700 members. The ongoing investigations, he noted, will require time but have already identified the methods employed by the group.
In a recent session at the Dewan Rakyat, Saifuddin revealed that the police had dismantled the group, which was involved in various sexual crimes, including a case involving a 12-year-old girl.
