Kuala lumpur: FWD Insurance Berhad (FWD Insurance) has announced a RM400,000 sponsorship to deliver 40 digital smartboards to 35 schools under the Keramat District Education Office (PPD).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative aligns with the Ministry of Education's (MOE) digitalisation agenda and aims to equip students with critical financial knowledge and digital learning tools from an early age. The official handover was led by FWD Insurance Chief Executive Officer Mak See Sen, alongside Deputy District Education Officer (Curriculum Sector), Mohd Helmy Abdul Najib.
The statement from FWD Insurance highlighted that the smartboard distribution aligns with Thrusts 4 and 6 of the MOE Digital Education Policy. This policy aims to empower strategic partners to equip schools with the necessary infrastructure for digital learning implementation. It also supports Keramat PPD's Bring Your Own Device to School (BYODS) Programme, active since 2021.
To date, the smartboards have been installed across participating schools, with students actively using them in their learning processes. FWD Insurance notes that these devices serve as essential tools for integrating digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) into classrooms, reinforcing the company's commitment to making financial education accessible to all.
Mak See Sen emphasized FWD Insurance's vision to change perceptions about insurance and influence children's mindsets towards financial planning. The company is devoted to equipping primary and secondary school students with crucial financial literacy skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Mak further mentioned that investing in digital smartboards reflects a commitment to the nation's long-term financial stability through improved literacy. The investment in educational infrastructure supports sustainable learning, ensuring students gain relevant skills and knowledge to make informed financial decisions and manage risks effectively.
Championing financial literacy for Malaysians, FWD Insurance empowers individuals with the knowledge and tools to secure their financial futures. Mak also noted that this initiative reinforces the company's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments and plays a vital role in driving Malaysia's economic growth by expanding financial opportunities for young people and fostering a financially resilient nation.
This initiative is part of FWD Insurance's broader commitment to enhancing financial awareness across all age groups to build a financially secure Malaysia. In 2024, FWD Insurance launched several key projects, including 'Know Your Money' with Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), the 'JA SparktheDream' programme with JAMalaysia, and 'Fun(d) for Uni Life' with Arus Academy. These initiatives, along with the digital smartboard sponsorship project, underscore FWD's belief in preparing the next generation of Malaysian youth by fostering responsible financial habits from a young age.
