Kuala lumpur: National men's doubles top player Aaron Chia believes the German Open from Feb 24-March 1 in Mulheim an der Ruhr will be a crucial platform to fine-tune their game ahead of the prestigious All England from March 3-8 in Birmingham.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aaron emphasizes the significance of the German Open as a warm-up event, which, along with a longer training period, would benefit him and his partner Soh Wooi Yik in preparing for the challenges at the world's oldest badminton tournament.
'Before the All England, we have the German Open first. So, we will take that chance at the German Open as a sufficient warm-up for the All England,' he shared with reporters after a training session.
Aaron, who was All England runners-up twice with Wooi Yik in 2019 and 2024, said that the Super 1000 tournament has never been an easy target, regardless of experience or past results, due to the conditions and environment in Europe that demand constant adjustment every year.
He explained that maintaining consistency in gameplay can be challenging due to the adjustments required upon arriving in Europe. Aaron also highlighted the importance of balancing physical conditioning with on-court training, acknowledging that while the coaching staff have their own strategies, the 2022 world champions are aware of the necessary adjustments to enhance their performance level.
