Global Gas Industry Takes Leading Role In The Rise Of Global Energy Demand – IGU

Kuala Lumpur: The global gas industry is taking a leading role in identifying new ways to meet the global energy demand needs that continue to increase. As the world's energy needs are constantly evolving, gas is essential to human progress and global growth.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, International Gas Union (IGU) vice president Andrea Stegher emphasized the industry's need to focus and move in the right direction, contributing meaningfully without being distracted by transient trends. He highlighted the importance of collaboration to navigate challenges and meet global energy demands effectively. Stegher expressed the necessity for the energy sector to embrace new technologies and innovation, ensuring a clear and progressive direction.

Stegher also pointed out the significance of preparing the younger generation as the world population is projected to reach approximately 10 billion by 2050, up from the current 8.2 billion. He stressed that the younger generation faces the crucial challenge of serving global needs while reducing emissions in an industry committed to delivering sustainable energy solutions.

Petronas Young Club president and technology specialist at the NERF Centre, Faizal Adam, expressed hopes for continued collaboration among young professionals in the gas industry, including the Malaysian Gas Association (MGA). He emphasized the importance of joint efforts to advance both local and international gas sectors, highlighting the collective responsibility within the industry.

Ahmad Zul Hakim Ahmad Afdzal, an executive at Petronas Gas Bhd, advocated for collaborations that prioritize greener solutions. He stressed the need to balance green initiatives with industry demands, aiming for sustainable changes that enhance future energy solutions.

The session, which included IGU president Li Yalan and 30 young professionals from various Malaysian organizations, underscored the importance of industry collaboration and innovation in addressing global energy challenges. Representatives from the Gas Processing Unit (GPU), Petronas Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (PFLNG), Nerv Centre, and Techno Digital Solutions were also in attendance.
