Kuala Lumpur: The government is exploring ways to create more platforms for the MARESMAF Wind Orchestra (MAWO) to showcase their musical talents, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. Fahmi, who is also the spokesman for the MADANI Government, highlighted the achievement of the orchestra from MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) Ulul Albab, Felda Trolak, in winning the Golden Diploma Award at the 2025 International Wind Orchestra Festival in Prague, Czech Republic.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi recently brought this matter to the Cabinet's attention. The government expressed immense pride in the MRSM Ulul Albab orchestra's achievement. Fahmi assured that the government would explore possible assistance to ensure the orchestra continues to receive promising opportunities in the future.
Fahmi commended the younger generation from Felda for their spirit, noting that the group received the highest marks from professional judges for their quality of performance, technical proficiency, and mastery of internationally recognized musical compositions. He commented on the orchestra's unique journey, noting that despite their limited musical background, they managed to perform competently with the support of the RTM Orchestra and succeeded in winning a prestigious award in Prague.
Media reports highlighted MAWO's success in bringing honor to Malaysia by outperforming seven other orchestras from six countries in the middle-class category, making them the only Asian ensemble on the international stage. The competition was divided into three categories-lower class, middle class, and higher class-based on the difficulty level of the musical works and participants' technical ability. The 2025 International Wind Orchestra Festival was held on June 20 and 21, featuring 13 orchestras from 11 countries, with Malaysia as the sole representative from Asia.
