Kuala lumpur: A total of 13,552 contract medical officers have been offered permanent appointments by the Ministry of Health (MOH) from 2023 to date, stated Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad. This figure surpasses the government's initial target of 12,800 permanent posts for the same period, reflecting a significant commitment to improving the national healthcare system.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dzulkefly also reported that the MOH appointed 13,349 permanent medical officers and 8,121 permanent nurses between 2020 and last year. During this period, MOH records indicate that 1,856 permanent medical officers and 1,754 permanent nurses resigned. Dzulkefly provided these details in response to a question from Wong Shu Qi (PH-Kluang) regarding the number of medical personnel resignations and new appointments during the oral question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat.
