Kuala lumpur: Ustaz Muhammad Abdullah, widely recognized as Ustaz Mad Kecik, made a poignant video call to his mother, Noor Aini Mamat, just 30 minutes before being detained by Israeli forces. During the call, he reassured her, "Mom, if anything happens like being arrested, please don't worry." This occurred yesterday afternoon, as part of the unfolding events surrounding the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission to Gaza.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Noor Aini, 59, recounted how her son hinted at the potential dangers he faced as a participant in the GSF mission. She shared that Muhammad, her fourth child, had prepared her for such eventualities when he first accepted the invitation to join the mission. He advised her to remain strong and accept his fate, reminding her of their eventual reunion on the Day of Judgment.
This morning, Noor Aini, accompanied by three family members, traveled to Kuala Lumpur to stay updated on the situation involving Muhammad, 32, who had been aboard the Fair Lady vessel with other participants. Despite her initial desire to join the mission, Muhammad dissuaded her, fearing separation if they ended up on different vessels. Noor Aini has been deeply concerned since learning of his detention, and she earnestly hopes for his safe return to Terengganu, where he manages a religious school.
Muhammad, known for his altruistic spirit, has participated in numerous humanitarian missions across regions like Syria, Cambodia, and Sabah. Although aware of the unique challenges of the GSF mission, he remained steadfast in his commitment to aid those in Gaza. The GSF mission, involving over 500 activists from 44 countries, including Malaysia, aimed to demonstrate solidarity and challenge Israel's blockade by delivering essential supplies to affected Palestinians.
The Foreign Ministry has confirmed the detention of all 23 Malaysians involved in the GSF by Israeli forces, with plans for their deportation via a third country.
