Kuala lumpur: Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin's position as Opposition Leader in the Dewan Rakyat remains unchanged, as no official notification regarding his status has been received following his expulsion from Bersatu, according to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul. He emphasized that until a written confirmation is obtained from either Bersatu or the opposition bloc, Hamzah's status will remain intact.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tan Sri Johari Abdul highlighted that the absence of a formal notice means Hamzah's role and seating position remain the same. "So far, we have not received anything. That means his status remains the same. Only if we receive it in black and white will we make an announcement. In any case, I am waiting," he explained. The Speaker noted that developments could emerge next week, as there are only two days left of the current Dewan Rakyat sitting.
Earlier, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, PN deputy secretary-general, announced PAS's intention to assume the role of Dewan Rakyat opposition leader, with the specific Member of Parliament to be named later. The uncertainty follows Hamzah's expulsion from Bersatu, attributed to an internal party conflict. Hamzah continues to serve as the Member of Parliament for Larut.
