Harbin Institute of Technology Drama Honors 1950s Pioneer Teachers

Harbin:Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) has staged three consecutive performances of "The Stargazers," a large-scale drama focused on the university's pioneering teachers and scientists, a project that took three years to produce.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, professional actors performed alongside HIT teachers and students in the drama, portraying scientists and educators who settled in northeast China. These individuals taught students and pursued scientific breakthroughs, as described in a statement by the university.

The drama narrates the story of the "800 Faculty Pillars," a group of more than 800 young teachers and students who came to HIT from across China in the 1950s. This teaching team, with an average age of just 27.5 years, was instrumental in building the university's academic disciplines and training talent urgently needed for China's industrialization.

Centered on the themes of "stargazing" and "inheritance," the production emphasizes the idea of staying grounded in hard work while aspiring towards greater achievements. This message is intended to inspire each generation to become a role model for others, according to HIT.

Zou Mingye, a student from the School of Architecture and Design, expressed, "Standing on this stage, we recreate the extraordinary pasts of our predecessors and interpret the sincere faith of a whole generation." The performances were also live-streamed on new media platforms, attracting an audience of 500,000 online viewers, as reported by the university.
