Putrajaya:All educational institutions under the Ministry of Education (MOE) in the Federal Territory of Putrajaya and Selangor will be closed tomorrow due to the ongoing haze.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Putrajaya Education Department stated that this decision aligns with the MOE's guidelines and a decree from His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, prioritizing the safety and health of students.
In addition, the closure decision is based on Air Pollution Index (API) readings recorded at monitoring stations as of 5 pm. In Selangor, state education director Datin Wan Nor Ashikin Abu Kassim confirmed that all MOE schools will be closed. Separately, Selangor Islamic Religious Department director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad announced the closure of all state religious schools under the department, advising private religious schools to consider following suit.
Meanwhile, in Pahang, the state education department instructed institutions in the Rompin district to close, emphasizing the need for continuous monitoring of API readings and adherence to guidelines from the MOE, the Environmental Department, and the Health Ministry.
To ensure learning continuity, affected institutions will conduct learning from home, considering students' capabilities, access, needs, and teacher readiness. Teachers and implementor group members have the option to work from home during the closure, while parents are advised to seek information from official sources.
