Two Teenagers Face Charges in Death of Student at School Hostel

Kuala Pilah:Two 16-year-old boys appeared in the Magistrate's Court today, facing charges related to the death of a Form Two male student at a secondary school hostel last month.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, no plea was recorded from either of the accused as the charge, read out before Judge Roslinda Razali, falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The boys are accused of causing the death of the 14-year-old student between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm on September 25 at a school hostel. They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, in conjunction with Section 304, which could result in the death penalty or imprisonment for 30 to 40 years if found guilty. If not sentenced to death, they could also face a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane.

The court has scheduled the case for mention on December 7. Deputy Public Prosecutor Engku Ahmad Rashdi Engku Abdillah is leading the prosecution, while lawyer Datuk Hanif Hassan is representing the accused teenagers.
