Immigration Dept Refutes Issuing Qurban Meat Distribution Guidelines

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) has firmly denied issuing any statement related to the guidelines for distributing 'Qurban' (sacrificial) meat at mosques for the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration. This clarification comes in response to a statement that allegedly originated from JIM, which has been circulating widely.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JIM Deputy Director-General (Management) Ismail Mokhtar addressed the situation, emphasizing that the department was aware of the statement dated June 5, 2025, which has been spreading rapidly. He categorically stated, "For the record, the statement is false and has never been issued by JIM."

In his official communication, Ismail Mokhtar urged the public to rely solely on the department's official channels for information that is accurate and reliable. He highlighted the serious implications of spreading false information, noting that it can cause significant public confusion. Furthermore, he warned that any unauthorized use of JIM's official emblem and name constitutes an offence and could result in legal consequences.

The fraudulent statement, which falsely bore the date of June 5, 2025, and invoked the name of Immigration Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban, made several unverified claims. Among these were assertions that only foreign nationals possessing valid work permits, visas, or United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cards would be eligible to receive Qurban meat at mosques. Additionally, it falsely stated that illegal immigrants who attempted to collect the meat would face immediate action.
