Indonesian Man Receives 60-Year Sentence and 60 Strokes for Raping Daughter

Kuala lumpur: An Indonesian man received a 60-year prison sentence and 60 strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to six counts of raping his biological daughter, resulting in the birth of a baby girl. The Sessions Court delivered the sentence today. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Judge Mazuliana Abdul Rashid imposed a 10-year prison term and 10 strokes of the cane for each count, ordering the sentences to run consecutively from the date of the man's arrest on July 23. The charges fall under Section 376 (3) of the Penal Code, stipulating a prison sentence of no less than eight years and no more than 30 years, along with a maximum of 10 strokes of the cane if convicted. The charges stated that the accused raped his daughter, now 19 years old, at a condominium in Taman Midah between October 2, 2021, and June 30. The DNA test confirmed that the accused was the biological father of the child born from these acts. Deputy Public Prosecutor Banusha Jegathesan called for a severe sentence, emphasizing that th e accused, as the victim's biological father, failed in his duty to protect her. The victim endured severe depression and had suicidal thoughts but was deterred by her responsibility towards her four-year-old daughter. The prosecution highlighted the accused's previous allegations of molesting the victim's child and urged for a stern sentence to prevent similar offenses in the future. The accused, unrepresented by legal counsel, sought a lighter sentence, citing his 43-year residency in the country.
