Negeri sembilan: Negeri Sembilan recorded 299 cases of influenza in week 41, from Oct 5 to 11, compared to 154 cases in the previous week, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun. He stated that most of the cases involved students from both government and private educational institutions, including boarding schools. The majority of these cases were treated as outpatients and were reported to be in stable condition.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, for the reported influenza and Influenza-like illness (ILI) clusters, the state Health Department has implemented control measures in all affected schools. These measures include the disinfection of classrooms, dormitories, and prayer rooms. Additionally, health education on personal hygiene and proper cough etiquette has been provided to students, teachers, and parents. Daily monitoring of symptomatic students at schools is also being conducted to manage the situation effectively.
Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun highlighted that the District Health Office has been actively involved by providing technical guidance to schools. This includes instructions regarding permission to return home and quarantine leave for symptomatic students, quarantine locations, and the process of isolating symptomatic individuals. Schools have been asked to continue monitoring symptoms among students to prevent further spread.
Aminuddin also emphasized the importance of vaccination, encouraging risk groups such as children, pregnant women, and the elderly to get the influenza vaccine to protect against the disease.
Meanwhile, Aminuddin invited the public to attend the state-level Deepavali celebration, which is scheduled to be held at Seremban Jaya Public Hall on Nov 8.
