Kuala lumpur: Investigations into complaints of misconduct and abuse of power involving several organizations in Kelantan that were received in 2017 and 2018 have been resolved within the same year, as stated by the Registrar of Societies Malaysia (ROS). These investigations were conducted in accordance with the provisions under the Societies Act 1966.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ROS revealed in a statement today that the investigation process included the examination of related documents and representations from various involved parties. Appropriate enforcement actions were taken against the relevant organizations in line with existing legal provisions, and official notifications were conveyed to the complainants regarding the outcomes of the investigations.
The statement highlighted that the ROS received written complaints concerning financial management and organizational governance issues in both 2017 and 2018. Each complaint was officially recorded, and thorough investigations were conducted and completed within the same year, adhering strictly to the Societies Act 1966, the organizations' constitutions, and the applicable administrative procedures.
The media had previously reported concerns raised by a former treasurer of an organization in Kelantan, who called for an investigation into allegations of misconduct and abuse of power, particularly regarding financial management. These allegations included claims that complaints were submitted to the ROS since 2017 without receiving any response.
The ROS statement further emphasized its collaboration with other enforcement agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police and related bodies, as necessary. This collaboration ensures that every complaint is addressed comprehensively, transparently, and fairly.
In light of these developments, the ROS urges the public and stakeholders to refrain from making speculations or disseminating unverified information, as doing so can undermine the integrity of the investigation process and the reputation of the parties involved.
"Further inquiries should be directed through the department's official channels," the statement advised.
The ROS reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency, accountability, and integrity in the management and monitoring of organizations for the public's interest, emphasizing that the department does not compromise on any form of misconduct.
