Kuala lumpur: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today congratulated Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) Sdn Bhd for receiving recognition at the Global Water Awards 2026 in Madrid recently, saying the achievement reflects Malaysia's strong commitment to strengthening sustainable water and sanitation management.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, last Tuesday, the national sewerage company was named winner of the Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) Award at the Global Water Awards, held in conjunction with the Global Water Summit aimed at recognizing excellence, leadership in sustainability and technological innovation in the global water industry.

The award, presented by Global Water Intelligence, recognized IWK's entry titled "Solar-powered Sanitation: No Upfront Cost, Cuts Emissions," which showcased how the use of renewable energy can strengthen the operational performance of sewage treatment, while driving sustainable infrastructure development and enhancing financial resilience.
