Kuala lumpur: The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) will continue to collaborate with ulama (Islamic religious figures) from abroad to further enhance dakwah (preaching) efforts and strengthen the formation of Islamic thought among the Muslim community in Malaysia, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Senator Dr. Zulkifli Hasan. He emphasized the significance of such collaboration in building a society that is moral and well-mannered, while fostering dynamic and progressive thinking grounded in advanced and civilised Islamic values.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zulkifli highlighted that discussions with these ulama serve as a catalyst for structuring dakwah initiatives more effectively within society. He made these remarks after receiving a Mahabbah visit from Nusantara preacher Ustaz Abdul Somad and Quranic exegesis and Ulum al-Quran scholar Sheikh Dr. Khalil Ismail Eliyas.
Zulkifli noted that JAKIM sees various areas of cooperation that can be pursued, including education, the cultivation of manners and morals, and the development of balanced and moderate societal thinking. He stressed the need for societal thought formation that is wasatiyyah and ihsani, rooted in humanitarian values and compassion, to ensure Islam continues to be understood as a religion that brings mercy to all creation.
Regarding the meeting with the two religious figures, Zulkifli mentioned that the discussions focused on efforts to shape societal thinking and develop a community that is moral, well-mannered, dynamic, and progressive. He reiterated that these discussions are intended to better organise and strengthen dakwah initiatives within society.
