Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has been urged to take appropriate action against Facebook account owner "Lyan Liu" for allegedly posting seditious statements on social media. Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) Director-General Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee emphasized the seriousness of the situation and confirmed that a report had been lodged with MCMC.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, JAKIM has formally submitted a complaint to MCMC, urging them to take action according to existing laws, as the content of the post allegedly contains elements of extremism, religious hatred, and racism. The statement attributed to the individual includes insults towards religion and race, which JAKIM asserts are contrary to the principles of racial and religious harmony long maintained in Malaysia.
Dr. Sirajuddin highlighted that freedom of expression should not be misused to incite tension between races and religions. Such actions not only provoke the sensitivities of Muslims but also pose a threat to public order and national unity. He urged the public to refrain from being influenced or reacting emotionally to provocations, advising that the matter be left to the authorities to handle appropriately.
