Johor Braces for Potential Flooding Amid Heavy Rainfall Warnings

Johor bahru: The Johor State Government is on the highest alert mode following the flood risk warning in Segamat, Tangkak, and Muar due to the continuous heavy rain reported by the National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) and the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) since yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, through a post on his Facebook, indicated that areas near river basins and low-lying locations have been identified as being at high risk if high-intensity rain continues until November 29, 2025.

To counter this threat, the state government is enhancing its preparedness by conducting 24-hour monitoring at all hotspots, mobilizing security assets, and ensuring the provision of critical logistics. These measures aim to facilitate immediate emergency actions to safeguard residents in the affected areas.

Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi urged all Johoreans to stay informed about weather developments, adhere to official announcements from PRABN, the Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS), and MetMalaysia, and to cooperate fully with security agencies if evacuation is necessary. He emphasized the importance of community safety and encouraged prayers for the weather to stabilize, expressing hopes for Johor to be spared from any disasters.
