Johor Government Initiates Investigation into Alleged Deviant Teachings Video

Johor bahru: The Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have been tasked with investigating a viral video that showcases alleged deviant teachings in Parit Raja, Batu Pahat.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has stressed the urgency of addressing the issue to maintain community harmony. The incident has sparked concern, prompting the State Government to reaffirm its dedication to identifying and combating any forms of deviant teachings. Onn Hafiz highlighted that activities involving superstition, incorrect worship, or rituals contradicting Islamic teachings are prohibited under the Johor Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 1997.

In a Facebook post, Onn Hafiz shared that His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, issued a reminder for Muslims in Johor to adhere to the true tenets of Islamic faith. He emphasized that deviant teachings must not be allowed to establish or proliferate within the state.

Furthermore, Onn Hafiz conveyed that the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, has urged religious institutions, community leaders, and authorities to enhance their efforts in enforcement and education to curb the spread of deviant teachings. The state government remains steadfast in protecting the harmony and sovereignty of Islam, as outlined in the Federal Constitution, and has called upon community leaders, as well as mosque and surau committee members, to aid in preventing the dissemination of such teachings.
